2008: Year in Review
December 31, 20082007 and 2006 were crazy busy in our house….true to form, the 2008 was just as exciting! Let’s recap shall we?
Diesel:
2008 for Diesel included graduating Pre-K, starting to learn how to play the piano, and starring in his first stage production. In this next year Diesel’s looking forward to the numerous homeschool activities we have planned and starting mixed-martial arts class. Currently we’re working on reading and Diesel’s really enjoying it!
This time last year he looked like this:

Now he’s taller and starting to thin out around his face….he looks like a boy and not a baby:

Kinhly:
For Kinhly, 2008 has been a year of self discovery. She’s realized that she’s a princess. Most days you’ll see her in a pink dress, dancing around the house with her iPod playing Disney Princess songs. Currently she’s in preschool 3 days a week where she’s working on her letters and numbers. So far things are alittle slow but 2008 got Kinhly new glasses and she’s finally started to make some educational progress. She’s set to start Kindergarten this year….if I let her leave me!
January 2008, Kinhly looked this this:

She’s starting to do the same thing Diesel is….look like a girl and not a baby. I can’t believe looking back even a couple of month how much older she’s looking every day:
Lola:
Lola wins the award for Most Changed of 2008! I believe this is her second win in a row! Yay Lola! Last year she was just a mass of smiling – an unmobile mass of smiles. This year though she has exploded with movement; running, talking, dancing, general hamming it up. She has a vocabulary of several words like, “mama”, “dada”, “tank yo”, “dooog”, and after starting to play a game with her aunty Shelby, she’s started saying “blast off”.
1 year ago, Lola looked like this:

Now she looking like a toddler….it’s all moving so fast!
2009:
In last year’s recap I mentioned hoping to add to our family, starting grad school for social work, and Matt getting a new job. We’ll what do they say about best laid plans? We did add to our family in the way of two little scrapping pups (but no kiddo), I did start grad school (but for teaching instead of social work), and Matt didn’t get a new job (but he did get a raise).
In 2009 we’re hoping that we’ll complete the surrogacy journey that we’re on. We’ve started a new cycle and could be transferring again in February. In April, Matt and I will be celebrating our 8 year wedding anniversary….it feels weird to be able to say that! I’m not sure we’ll have a new addition this year, but I hope that we’ll be starting on it. I want to keep plugging along with school, hopefully keeping up my 4.0 GPA.
As for goals in 2009, Matt and I are hoping to spend the year writting. I got a grant from school to upgrade my laptop, so with 2 laptop computers in the house, Matt and I will be writing…duelling computer style. We both have the goal of 70,000 words (each) by spring.
If there are any resolutions to be made, they’ll be made at Tet time.
I hope that everyone has a great and safe New Years. See you guys in 2009!!

You have a wonderfully entertaining family and you all enjoy such extraordinary adventures. It says a lot about your gift of parenting. I hope to meet you all one day. Happy New Year!
WOW, Lola has changed a lot!! Good luck with the new year
The kids keep getting cuter! Sounds like 2009 is going to be a busy year for you guys!
Goodness, the kids have grown so much in just a year! Have a great 2009!!
Thanks for giving me credit on the “Blast Off” thing…though I think Kinhly may deserve that!
Love You. Real cute pics!
It’s amazing how fast they grow. 2009 will be a great year! Glad everyone enjoyed the xmas gifts. Take some pics of the outfits when you get a chance, we would like to see them. Oh and by the way, that oovoo thing mussed up the home computer, so Dad said. What else can we use to do the webcam?
I’m really happy Celia and I were able to spend the entire last year watching all those changes take place. You guys are our other family and we love you very much!! Happy New Year
